question?
I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. After it rains, when you start up you truck, is there a squeeling noise from the belts. I have noticed that when it is either really cold or just after it rains my truck will squeel on the initial start up. Is this normal?

Re: question?
As a temporary fix, pick up a can of belt dressing.

Re: question?
Get the Goodyear Gatorback Belt and you will not hear a squeel until after the belt falls off.....
My factory belt would squeel shifting from first to second. Put the Gatorback on and no squeeling at all.

Re: question?
Here's a tip I picked up while working at a Chevy dealership, temporary fix of course because a squealing belt usualy means its time for a new one, but sprinkle some Commit bathroom cleaner (the powder stuff) all over the belt/pullys. Then fire it up... Works like a charm

Re: question?
if belt dressing made it worse, you have an accessory that is dragging. Your alternator, PS pump, or A/C compressor may be failing.

the stealer told me its normal. till I drove down. its hard for them to sell new trucks when one sounds like its going to go blistic. mine started doing it at 500 miles. now i have 13k on the truck same belt. still does it when the weather changes.
my fix is to take it down every few months till thay realy get poed and fix what is draging. I am thinking there is a few issues with the power stearing units that have just started showing up. mine is worse when turning in the mornings |

I would not recommend using belt dressing on a serp. belt due to the fact they are wider and being the belt dressing is sticky might pick something up and do more damage to pulleys and tensioner. I agree to alleviate squealing: change the belt, if that dont get rid of it find out which components pulley bearings are bad.
