Engine problems
I have a 96 plymouth neon with 104,000 miles. My after market parts are Iceman intake, bored throttle body, MSD coil and 8.5 wires, Crane 16 cams, 2.4 lifters and rocker arms, Unorthodox pulley, Fidanza gears, Hedman header to a full exhaust system. My engine want to stall when i come to a stop, right now i have the engine light on with the code 43 ( multiple engine misfire detected peak primary circuit current not achived with the maximum dwell time) I have the champion spark plugs installed already. I wounder if the cams are cousing this problem. I also have that tapping sound coming from my #1 cylinder but i already replaced my lifters and rocker arms and the tapping is still their. If anybody can help i would like.

Code 43..... Misfire on one or more cylinders detected. Spark plug, injector, cylinder compression or air intake problem; primary circuit problem in one or both ignition coils

Re: Engine problems
I replaced the coil about 3-4 months ago with a new one from msd coil and msd wires. I removed the negative cable on the battery for about 3-5 minutes while i replaced the plugs. Im going to have to look at the injectores and replace my K&N filter

Re: Engine problems
I doubt it's a fuel injector problem giving you a code 43. Check the coil pack for any cracks and make sure the wires are tight. Also check the wires for any frayed parts. Disconnect your fuel pump fuse for about 15 minutes, just to make sure that the codes are clearing.

Re: Engine problems
the car never gave me a code 43 the engine light turned off when I did the on-off-on-off-on. I didnt blink at all. The fuel pump fuse is under the hood behind the battery.

Re: Engine problems
when you did the key dance the light should have at least given you a 55 end of codes. As for the ticking in the #1 cylinder could be a faulty spark plug boot.If there is even the smallest crack or hole in the insulation then the spark will arc off of the valve cover or the cylinder head inside the tube and cause a ticking noise. What you want to look for on that is a white spot anywhere on the spark plug boot that will indicate a burn spot which is a sign of arcing.I hope that helps you.
