K&N Air Filters
See on one of these threads that a dealer said that a K&N filter will damage the air flow sensor. I have been using them in all my vechicles for about 3 years. Anybody ever heard of this?

In a nut shell, the factory warranty covers FACTORY defects only. Any aftermarket componants or modifications to your vehicle that cause a concern during the warranty period are not covered and the dealer and manufacturer are under no obligation to honor warranty coverage. Does not mean that the factory warranty is voided, just means if you installed it and it causes a problem, you are responsible for the bill.

Re: K&N Air Filters
Hey Merlin
The warranty is gone. Its a 1999. Would it be safe to clean the wires on the MAF sensor. If so with what. |

Re: K&N Air Filters
Here's the trick I learned from my mechanic neighbor. I had this problem with my 2003 Suburban 4x4 and 2000 4x4 GMC Envoy after I put in K&N Filters. Remove the air mass sensor and set it on some old rags or towels. Use NON-CHLORINATED (very important!) brake cleaner to spray down the wires from both sides of the AMS. Let it dry and then replace. Everything should work fine from then on! I do this about once per year and haven't had any problems since.
