I have a problem when I have tranmission in overdrive at about 45mph and up it surges in and out. If I drive in drive(III) it doesn't give me any problems. the car only has 72000 miles on a 1995 buick. I don't know if I'm hurting anything by driving in drive(III) or not? is my tranny just starting to go? I would appriciate any help with this problem thanks

Re: 1995 buick century tranny surges in overdrive
It sounds like you have a problem with the torque convertor clutch solenoid. Usually you will find this issue when the car gets to around 45 mph. To correct the issue you need to have the solenoid replaced although this is about a $500 repair at a transmission shop. Using D (3) will not hurt the transmission although your mileage will suffer significantly. I hope this helps!
