Check engine

My check engine light on my 1999 4runner has come on at least 3 times before, after long trips. When I have it serviced oil change etc. The light goes out.
My light just came back on and the inspector for my sticker said he cant put a new sticker on with my check engine light on, that its the cataletic(splelling) converter.
I say it comes on when it needs service.
How can I reset it?
Thanks

Thank you for replying..what he is saying (inspector) is even though the light is off now (cause I had it serviced)
Is the computer has to be reset to "ready" and he still wont inspect it?
Sorry I just dont understand how to do that.
He said my only option is to drive it 100 miles to reset it.
I cant do that without a valid stick.
Am I being run around here?
Thanks

Re: Check engine

Pulling the fuse will delete all stored codes.
