DSM Link questions and other crap

Seeing how Im going to be getting DSM link soon, I think I might need a little guidance on how to use it and what to do.

First, do I need a WBO2? Or can I tune the fuel mixture off how much boost Im running and what others have done.

Second, what does advancing and retarding timeing do? And I made a post a while back about having misfire problems, can timeing have anything to do with this since I put in a bigger turbo?

And whats the safest RPM to redline at on stock internals and tranny?

If I come up with any more Ill be sure to post...Thanks in advance

Re: DSM Link questions and other crap

You dont need a WBO2, but I won't run any of my cars without one now. The more data you have available the easier and safer it is to get the tuning done. Without one you just tune like you always do. Knock, and a prayer.

Stock rev liit is 7500, you might as well set that for the defaut. If you need to raise it later you can do that all you want.

Changing timing changes when the spark plug ignites the mixture in relation to the position of the crank. I don't think it has anything to do with a misfire in your case, but timing that is off substantially from normal values can cause a lot of problems.

Dsmlink User Guide and 2gDSMTables are a good start, I believe they are avaliable for download on ECMtuning's website.

The user guide is, but I don't think the tuning guide is... I always have to go the forums or the old yahoo list to get that.
