went down last night

as im typing this with one hand the events of last night are still fresh in my mind. some dirtbag switched lanes into me, when i was on my bike. my right hand is mangled badly and will need some pins, the whole right side of my body and both legs are covered in burning road rash, i dislocated my shoulder and sprained both ankels and my right knee. but a few stiches here and there a temparary splint until i get my hand surgury and im fine

just reminding everyone who rides helmets save lives, i slid on mine for about 100 feet and if i wasnt wearing mine, there is NO way id be typing this now.

xray/broken hand/road rash/motorcycle pics will be on later today

Re: went down last night

Most of us have been there. There rest of us will be eventually.

After having crashed in street clothes and in leathers and a spine protector, I can tell you first hand that you can walk away from crashes in leathers that will put you up for a stay in the hospital otherwise. Gear is an invaluable investment.

Heal up quick!

Sorry to hear about your accident. Did the other guy notice at least? If so, rape him in the ass. (not literally, sue him)

Re: went down last night

i was wearing jeans/leather jacket yea he noticed, i used the word dirtbag in my first post not because he changed lanes without looking, but because he got out of the car yelling at me so i told him to get away from me before i get my helmet off, cause i would have smacked him in the headwith it. he was saying i was a f*ckin idiot, meanwhile the side of his car is damaged, clearly showing that he changed lanes into me

i dont think that i can sue him, because other than road rash, and sprains ive only got 2 broken fingers and a metacarple. all i hope is that my bike gets payed for.

oh and i got a ticket for not having my license on me because the medics cut my jeans shirt and jacket off me and my wallet magically dissapeared.

If you were overtaking him at an unreasonable speed and/or on the right, he may have seen you but misjudged the situation. I've almost punched a few sportbiker's tickets in situations like that.

Hope that wasn't the case....I read an awful lot of accounts of accidents involving motorcycles where the rider leaves out their contribution to the accident, makes it all the cage driver's fault.

Glad you're gonna be OK. If you were riding within the law and he simply didn't look, I'd think you do have a good personal injury case..

Yea, so long as you were riding at a reasonable speed and just riding in the lane before getting run down, you should be able to get the money to fix the bike as well as any medical expenses. If you want to get real jiggy, you could try and get lost wages for any work you may miss. It's times like these that I want to stab the cop in the jaw when he pulls me over for passing in and out of traffic to get ahead of it...though I guess a ticket is better than hand pins and road rashed appendages. Hope you get better quickly.

Wow what a prick. If I was in an accident with a motorcyle reguardless of whos fault it was, my first thought would be to check to see if the rider is alright. Somebody who couldn't care less about what condition your in is an inconsiderate prick. I think your right, you should of hit him with your helmet. I hope you heal up well and in short time!

Hope you get well fast. Can't believe some lowlife stole your wallet in that situation, and cops decided to give a ticket in spite of it all? Heh, I bet he loves his job and his life. I would definitely sue the driver if you know he was responsible, as well as the reason for injuries. How's your bike?

The loss of your wallet is really cold!
IMO get a lawyer and definitly sue for your losses, including bike, medical, lost wages, impact on quality of life (you'll have to use your left hand....... ) etc. It's what the lawyers say, sue for everything and hope something sticks.
As for the cops ticket, that is definitely unwarranted and should get a not guilty plea. Did the driver get a ticket, too (hopefully?)

Re: went down last night

driver got no tickets, i picked up the police report and it says that i admited blowing red light and that it was a tbone collision at an intersection, (it happened 100 feet past an intersection that i had a green light for and was a sideswipe) it also does not mention that i had to be ambulanced away.

my bike somehow survived wthout out any damage to the gas tank, clip ons, wheels, frame (not even a scratch), not even a scratch on my case covers!, but my exhaust was scratched, all my plastics need to be relpaced and one radiator hose was sliced.

MAN! It looks like that car purposely did that. He took his sweet ass time crossing the opposing lane of traffic until that bike plowed into him...ouch.

.

It is entirely reasonable to amend or contest that report (with a lawyer). Dazed, stunned and injured people are simply not reliable people to make statements.

If it says you 'admitted' these things, that implies the cops ASKED you if they were correct and you agreed. It does NOT say you stated this is what happened.
Well shit, after a bad crash a cop could ask me if I was the tooth fairy and I would probably say yes.

Given the stress of the situation and your crash induced impared judgement, you could agree to a lot of things without realising what you were agreeing to.
