1987 Chevy cuts out!?

I have a 1987 Chevy 3+3 crew cab dually with a 454 with TBI. The truck starts and idles fine. It drived great but when you take off from a light or such but as you speed up the engines cuts out. After getting up to speed and I push the gas pedal to the floor it is as though the engine choaks out. It doesn't die, but just spits & spudders. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Did you ever figure out what the problem was? I just had the same problem today with my '86 V-20 w/ 350 TBI. I ended up changing out the spark plug wires, checking the distributor, setting the timing, and cleaning the air filter. Problem solved.

Just thought I would get back to this and do a little update.

Even though my truck needed all of the above mentioned things done, it only solved the problem temporarily. I then put in a new ECM, replaced the distributer cap and spark plugs, checked fuel line pressure, and rebuilt the injectors. Still had problems with it cutting out. I put on a new Accel super coil since the Accel coil I had on it wasn't putting out a strong spark. Then had to return the Accel coil because it was defective. Then returned that one too for the same reason, and finally got one that worked. Truck ran great for about 7 months and started cutting out every time I would make a left hand turn. As soon as I opened the hood I went straight to the Accel coil, and yep...it was leaking fluid. Finally came to the conclusion that Accel coils are crap and changed over to MSD, and the truck has run perfect ever since.
