Aftermarket radio/CD

Hello All,
I'm helping a friend install his radio in a '97 Towncar. Factory radio has two sets of wires plugged into the back. The radio going in is only a 1 input connection. Does anyone know what color is what on the original side so that I can match them to the aftermarket wiring? Also, there isn't an antenna connection on the original but there is on the aftermarket, where's the antenna wiring on the origninal side? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Aftermarket radio/CD

One set of wires is for the speakers and one is for input power, memory, etc. the radio is probably pre-amp, so the wires you see go to a factory installed amp (this harness will have smaller AWG wires). It's best to get an adapter for the harnesses, becaus messing with the pre-amp wiring is a bit*h! believe me, I re-wired the entire soundsystem on an 89 towncar and it wasn't pretty. if i added up the cost of wire, solder, and a trip to the emergency room, it would show that buying a & $10 adaptor from wal-mart would have been A LOT cheaper. As for your antenna problem, I don't really know what to tell you. All of my experiences with radios have been with vehicles equipped with a coaxial radio antenna. Sorry, I don't know about that one
