what is that noise????
ok ive had this problem for awhile and its really startin to drive me insane. on my 95 town car im hearing what sounds like a wind noise at the bottom of the dashboard up against the windshield. there are no leaks or anything, but the sound is soooo annoying. HOWEVER, the other day it did stop for like 2 days, but now it is making the noise again. i checked the entire climate controls system, including the vents, all sensors, everything, even the blower and the flap that moves when the climate control is active. everything checks out to be a-ok. so what is going on? is it may be the doors are shutting properly or what? the noise is coming from the driver side of the windshield and sounds like it stretches to about the middle of the windshield. i dont hear the sound on the passenger side at all. whats goin on?

Quote:
The parking brake release has a vacuum can, and vacuum switch linked to the steering column shifting mechanism -- could be leaking air.

Re: what is that noise????
check if your climate controls are working , what i mean is that when u open vent to floor , the air should be in floor and not blowing in windshield, and check for all air position blowings. if its not blowing where it should be mayb thats why u hear that noise in the dashboard . the sensor for the climate control has broke.

is it possible that may be the seal around the windshield is going bad? like i said, the noise sounds like it is coming from all the way on the driver side to about half way across the bottom of the windshield. on the passenger side, i hear no noise at all. someone told me that is it also possible that the weather stripping around the doors could be bad. i dont know all i know is the sound is so annoying. |

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: what is that noise????
UPDATE: i took the car out again to try and isolate where the noise is coming from. first, i drove it with my brother in the passenger seat to see where he can hear it from while i drive the car, then we switched. we both came to the conclusion that the noise is coming from the dead middle of the windshield. i dont hear it from the driver side or passenger side at all. just in the center of the windshield. i looked outside and under to hood to see if i could see some kind of air gap or something but i saw nothing. so again, i am still at a lost and the noise is progressively getting worse. i kno there is no leak because even when it made the noise in the rain, there was no wet areas along the dashboard. i even took a lighter while my brother drove it and held it up against the bottom center of the windshield to see if any air was getting in. there was no sign of air gettin in, just that stupid noise.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: what is that noise????
HAHAHAHA I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!! i knew it was something stupid. the air rush against the windshield is coming from under the hood. there is a piece of weather stripping that the hood rests on when its shut that blocks any air flow from hitting the windshield from under the hood. well, this morning it had snowed here and the car was covered, and i took it out for a ride and noticed there was no noise. so i was hmmm. as i continued drivin i slowly began to hear the noise slowly but surely. so i got out and noticed that all the snow and ice that was logged between the hood and windshield was melting. and then i saw it. the piece of weather stripping that sits under the hood had gaps in it, right where i was hearin the noise from the windshield. so i stuck a towel between the hood and the windshield and drove it - NO NOISE. now i just gotta see where i can find another piece of stripping.

That's great --
I have that same strip (no gaps) that sometimes sticks to the hood when I open it, dislodging it from it's track. I would have never guessed you could hear noises from the other side of there. Thanks for sharing

yeah i couldn't believe it. the strip though was like all out of shape and like ripped and squished down in some places and bent all out of place and everything. i never noticed it before. i was actually beginning to believe that it wasn't meant for my car because i was actually able to swap strips with a 93 town car at the junk yard and it solved the problem.
