MAP Sensor Cleaning
I've read the cautions about solvents and your ride.
Saw where one gentleman used brake cleaner to clean Map sensor. Is this what most folks are using? Will Carb cleaner hurt the MAP? Thanks! John |

Re: MAP Sensor Cleaning
Carb cleaner will not hurt it at all, Thats what I used the last time I cleaned mine, They say Brake Cleaner will not leave any residue on it.

Re: MAP Sensor Cleaning
I'm assuming you're talking about the MAF (mass air flow) sensor, and not the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor. They are two different beasts. The MAF is between your airfilter and your intake. The MAP is on the intake.
The MAF is typically what needs cleaning and can also become contaminated from oiled air filters such as K&N cai's. I'd recommend a cleaner than doesn't leave a residue, such as an electrical component spray cleaner. I've also used Throttle Body cleaner and not had any problems, but , the less residue, the better. Use the spray and a toothbrush and be very careful with the delicate wires. Quote:
