Shops in Austin, TX

Wouldnt it be great to have a true custom shop in ATX. Seems like Austin is missing out on the car scene, I think it would be nice to have one single shop where you can mod your car from engine to wheels get the whole works done while making it fun to shop and wait for your car. Whats the opinion of those located in Austin, TX.

Wow thats crazy you would think that where you find the coolest shops. I was thinking of putting a shop here in Austin, im trying to see how to start it. There lots of cool cars and lots of young kids here in Austin so I beleive it has potential for a good car scene. It just hasnt arrived yet with full force.

Re: Shops in Austin, TX

There are quite a few shops around here, but most of them aren't very good - just some guys with wrenches that install bolt-on parts and body kits but they don't really know what they're doing as far as tuning. They're the kind of guys that will install a full race cam on stock pistons, MSD on a stock engine, dumb things like that.

If you do find a local shop make sure to speak with some of their previous customers about the quality of their work. If you can find a local drag strip where they allow street cars to race that's a good place to hook up with local shop owners.

There are some really good shops around here, with guys that can tune every last drop of horsepower from your engine, and know how to mix/match parts for best performance. But they're few and far between.
