95 neon no accelleration

My daughters SOHC sat for a month. After that it does not have any pick up as it did before, this what I have done:
1. Checked air intake
2. checked fuel pressure and injectors
3. changed coilpack ,plugs and wires
4. checked exhaust for resriction
5. It starts and idles/revs normal without load
6. recently changed VSS, CPS, Cam pos sens
7. No codes now, got an 11 at first.
8. compression 160-175psi
9. cant see or hear any vacuum leaks
10. put in new gas and injector cleaner
Any suggestions? sound familliar to anyone?

Could be water in the gas tank, bad or going bad EGR valve. You say you got a code 11, have you checked the compression since then?

Re: 95 neon no accelleration

When it first happened it died on me a couple of times and would not start until the next day. I did not check if it was fuel or spark related. I pulled the fuel pump fuse to clear the codes. Has not thrown another code since and starts right up. When I step on the gas it just seems to bog down and slowly picks up speed. Like its plling a heavy load. Will not rev up and ATX does not downshift. Basically like running on 1/2 power,

Out of curiosity, what kind of spark plugs did you put in there? Your compression is a little low also.

I changed them out with Bosch platiums, I was going to try putting the old but still good NGK's ' I heard that neons dont do well with platinum plugs. The compression thing has not changed since the power loss so I don't think they are related.

You heard right...put some stock champion coppers in there and that should help you out. The platinum plug does not work well in the neon.

Re: 95 neon no accelleration

Well, the plug change made a big difference, but when I step on it the ATX does not downshift to accelerate, the car pulls well up to speed though. When I manually hit D1 the thing doesn't go at all. Maybe a clogged filter or band adjustment needed?

First off, don't manually shift an ATX neon, bad idea. You may need a reverse band adjustment and check your fluid level.

Re: 95 neon no accelleration

that would make sense as it sat idle outside for a month in some really wet weather

Re: 95 neon no accelleration

Is that what Haynes calls the throttle pressure cable? It appears to be out of adjustment, the cable end is hanging out of it's connection on the throttle body
