Video Tour of MTC

http://www.mclaren.co.uk/interactive...tirling512.wmv

This is a video from the 2005 Stirling Prize award for architectural designs. MTC had already won numerous awards and was nominated for the Stirling Prize as a favorite (though the award went to the Scottish Parliament).

Enjoy the video. MTC really is a marvelous and wonderous place.

I actually saw this, but didn't manage to tape it.

Much better than the silent video that I posted a while back

Thanks for sharing the vid Stratoraptor.

Still no LeMans winner in sight. I bet Ron Dennis found someone to buy it...

I'd still like to know (with certainty) whether McLaren did in fact have the real one, or if the real one went to Brunei about a decade ago.

Much appreciated, will be going there next week on my annual trip to Sutton Surrey (Woking). Erik, doesn't GM know the end result of said car?

As i said on the other thread, you can't just turn up and get a tour, its ONLY for SLR Buyers (people who have put down the $50K deposit) and VIP guests (Sponsers, financial backers, Ron Dennis's friends) Also, as you can see from the video, you can see the Formula 1 race cars, being built and I can't believe they allow just anybody in, without signing disclaimers and not having camera with them! Think how much Ferrari would be on that tour looking at the cars.

Also Sutton, Surrey is several miles from Woking, Surrey Guide Link

I know someone that lives in Woking, and he says you can't even see the building from the roundabout outside. Only a large illuminated McLaren sign on the grass bank. And a small reception unit on the entrance road with some barriers.

Link showing where the McLaren Technolgy Centre is

However, there is apparently a Public footpath that runs quite close to the place. If you look at the dotted line that runs SE to NW, thats apparently a right of way. Theres a small dead end road opposite a Pub, that you can walk down, and then it turns into a footpath with a sign, saying "Welcome to Mclaren Meadows"

Link showing entrace to footpath

I must stress, that I have never actually been on these paths/roads So I can't vouch for the authenticity, but if you're over here for other reasons, spending half hour or so, investigating (with a camera of course ) would be interesting for many users.

About 1-2 miles south from that site is Albert Drive, Woking. (Eve Road turning on this link ) Thats where the Genesis Business Park is where the F1 was created. We (people on here) are fairly sure the F1 service centre isn't there anymore, but conversely No F1's were on the video being worked on, so it might be worth having a look at. For years the Formula 1 team were based opposite Genesis in "Woking Business Park" so just remember that Prost, Senna, Lauda, Hakkinen etc have been in that road.

Re: Video Tour of MTC

Thanks for your concern, but a business partner of mine, which is the reason for the trip in the first place, besides owning an SLR, has a relationship with RD.

10K...Yep way to long a distance to go see the MTC...might as well call off christmas and forget seeing Old Trafford. LOL!

Re: Video Tour of MTC

I was in Woking today for another matter.

And despite what the sign says. And the lack of a Formula 1 car hanging in the reception. Using cunning and skill, I would say McLaren still own/operate from the Genesis site.

ooh to go through that door

Re: Video Tour of MTC
