Ram Air?
i have a 98 trans am non ram air, i want to add ram air, and was curious what do the stock ws6 cars have...is it just a ram air hood with a lower air box?...or do the hoods have more to them like do they have anything else that guides the air more direct into the intake...i just want to know what to buy so i'll have the same set up as the stock 98 ws6 trans ams(just the ram air set up)
thx for ur help |

As far as ram air goes, you only need a functional aftermarket hood and lower airbox to replace the one you have now. I'm not sure if you've priced this but hoods are usually $500-700, painting is $250-350 and the airbox is around $100 I think.
Now that will give you the ram air that WS6's have but unfortunately they are not that affective. The problem is they leave a 1-2" gap between the hood and the airbox. This allows the cooler outside air to mix with the hotter engine bay air. This also causes the air to lose the force it might of had since it's got a "leak" so to speak. They sell a kit called the BG ram air kit that seals this gap. But that runs another $300. This becomes extremly costly when it's all said and done. If you're absolutely in love with the ram air hood look then I say go for it. But if you just want the ram air function then there is a far cheaper alternative. The SSRA (super sucker ram air) kit runs about $200 and that's all you need. It draws air from the front of the car (just under the front bumper) through a scoop and goes up through the bottom of your stock airbox. The kit also includes a rubber strip that will block the air flow from the front and only allow the ram air coming from underneath. Either way your good for gaining .1 - .2 in the 1/4 mile from either a BG sealed hood or a SSRA. Good Luck
