lemon eclipse

i bought a 97 eclipse rs, yeah i know i shouldnt have bought an rs, but anyway. i drove the car for 6 days, 6 DAYS and one of the coolent fans went out, which caused the car to overheat, and blow the head gasket. and to let you know why i wasnt reading the gages in my car before it over heated, is because i wasnt in the car. i had just had the car jumped off and i didnt want to shut the car off because i wouldnt have been able to crank it back, so i left it running. i returned to the car to see what i thought was white smoke only to find out that it wasnt smoke at all. it was steam, and water was shooting out of the side of the car. so i took the head off the car and took it to a shop. the guy at the shop told me that the head didnt look cracked, and he tested it for being warped. so i took it home with the hope that a simple head gasket would have it up and running again. i was wrong. it turns out that the head was cracked and when i put it back on the car, it blew again. but the funny thing about it is that right before the car broke down, i had just ordered about $2000 worth of stuff for the car such as: a full body kit, rims, black housing headlights, chrome taillights, and lowering springs. yeah i learned my lesson. dont buy an eclipse rs.

Re: lemon eclipse

Not all eclipse rs' will do that. When your talking about a used 97 anything can happen. If you bought it from someone it could have been unmaintained. It could have a lot of miles. Anything is possible with a used car.

actually it has 84k miles on it. thats not that much considering that i owned a 94 honda accord with 170k miles on it, forgot to change the oil for 7 months, and went to a drag strip every other weekend. and i never had a single problem with it. but that was before i knew anything about cars other than how to drag race. not to mention that i bought it from one of my best friends, the car only had 3 owners. i just consider it my luck to have something like this happen.
