Low gas milage after replacing fuel filter

Hi all,

I recently replaced the fuel filter. There is nothing wrong, just that it has been there for ten years and I thought it might be better to get a new one. However, after replacing it, my gas milage dropped dramatically (from ave 40mpg to around 32mpg). Is this the problem of the fuel filter (it is the wright size), or my installation (all gaskets were replaced too)? Any idea how to trace down the problem? Also the car feels like it is with much less power now. The spark plugs have just been replaced six months ago and the spark plug wires are showing good ohms.

Thank you,

Check for leaks. Did you replace the little washers? Get another person and look at the fittings while they turn the key from off to on, wait until the engine light goes off before you do it again. This puts pressure on the system, and you'll see it leaking out if it is going to.
