Recomendations????

whats up guys. Kind of a dumb question. But what spark plug wires do you all prefer. I havent really researched to much on what all is out there. Just thought id see what you guys have had/heard about before. I may just do an ignition with it all. Dont really know what one of those to get either. Did a little looking, but i think some maybe overkill lol. I just want something better than stock i guess.

Re: Recomendations????

I don't think you need it for an NA much. I say just get relatively cheap lowest resistance wires, good spark plugs (hotter for NA, colder for FI), new cap and rotor and do the coil upgrade. Nissanfanatic did a diy tutorial on that. Don't know if it is in AF, but It is definitely posted in Nico.
That is all you really need for a really good spark.
But it will make very little, if any change on a practically stock engine.

Re: Recomendations????

oh yea i know, im just in the phase to getting this bitch running right. Well it runs ok now, but i just want to "upgrade" i guess. Yea i figured i wouldnt get the ignition. Wires and plugs will do. I'm prolly going ot wait to install them until the spring.

Re: Recomendations????

spark plug wires dont do anything on a nearly stock motor.

nothing.

the stock wires can handle way more juice than the ignition system puts out. get stock wires from the dealership if you want the quality.
ive seen dyno tests where an Integra type r with bolt ons and over 100k is tested with its origional 100k + wires compared with MSD and NGK blue wires and if anything, the stock wires were 1/2 hp more.
but thats probly because of dyno variance

Re: Recomendations????

lol im pretty sure brand new spark plug wires will be better than my 12 year old 167,000 mile ones i have now. I dont care if it doesnt give me hp NA, its just good to have for general replacements. Plus when i do go turbo it cant be bad either.....

as far as what plugs it has....i dont really know lol. I havent ever pulled them on this car. I can only assume some NGK's. THe wires are stock. Im just replacing shit that i think should be replaced on a high mileage car. Plus i dont know wtf the previous owner ever did to it. So it's just smart all together. I may just get some stocker wires and new overflow reservoir(iv never seen a 240 without a cracked one lol) from the dealer since its more conveniant that way.

Re: Recomendations????

OEM is pretty much the best for any engine at ANY level of performance. Bigger wires do NOTHING! There is hardly any current running through them. All they do is carry voltage. You size wire for the amount of current that whatever device you are running will draw. So, unless your spark plugs draw 30amps+, you prolly don't need anything better than OEM wires.

I only went with Magnecor wires because I hate the design of the stock plug boot. It falls apart over time.

And FYI, do NOT get anything other than OEM Nissan wires as everything else at the autoparts stores is shit. I bought at set that fell apart the first time I tried to take them off.... $40 gone...
