97 ex possibally alternator

my brother got the car guy told him battery was shot..so got a new battery put it in and still having trouble...Im thinking alternator

Anyways sitting still idles around 700 or so...When you push in the clutch pedal the idle will cut down to around nothing then let off it goes back up around 700-900...

When you drive it and come to a stop light holding the clutch in it will sometimes wanna die or die out...Driving of the night time all lights flicker and dim and come back up and dash lights and all do it to..

G/f's 97 lx is somewhat been doing same thing for a while but never has died out yet...Maybe i can kill 2 birds with one stone and someone might know..

I think its the alternator has anyone else every expierenced these problems out of a 96-98 civic...

guess ill take it down to autozone tomorrow and have it checked...

Just tought id ask incase it might be something else tough...

Probably. I experienced the same problem with my old car, better to replace it or have it checked before you break down somewhere. I learned the hard way, tow trucks aren't cheap.

well did a volt test on it and without it started im getting 12.5 volts from battery, with it started im reading the same or close to it as when its not started....

It should have jump up at least 2 volts after starting it but didnt....so my guess alternator is gone...
