Could someone post a link to a site that explains the codes-Not just what the codes mean but what flashes are for each code- Or just tell me what flashes go for each code..Thanks

Re: ECM codes

I dont know of any sites, but each set of flashes represents a digit. Example: while the ECM is in diagnostic mode, when the check engine light flashes 4 times, pauses, and flashes 3 times, that means a code 43. The ECM will flash each code stored in its memory 3 times each.

Re: ECM codes

What year is your car?

Cars with mechanical speedometers have the VSS mounted on the backside of the speedometer itself - you will have to pull the dash apart to get to it - newer cars with digital speedometers typically mount the VSS in or on the transmission.

A quick Q for you -

Does your speedometer work? If not, this is your VSS error.

Re: ECM codes

It's an 86 caprice 305 5.0 and yes mechanical, i realy dont know if the speedo works i mean i havent driven it anywere since ive had it, no i take that back, i have driven it but it was night and at the time the fuse for the dash lights was blown (i didnt know it before i drove) so i couldnt see the speedo. I have driven it in the yard and it did register like 5mph but that was like way before i changed the computer and a ton of other stuff in it. Anyways as far as i can tell yes it works, so what else would be the problem with the VSS?
Thanks.
