AT-5SPD Swap...tranny change.

Yeah I'm giving some thought to buying a 93 Toyota Celica but Is it possible for me to change the Current Automatic tranny to a 5 Spd?
Some people are telling me It's nearly impossible and that I'm better off getting another car.
What are your thoughts?
Sorry I just can't stand driving Automatic.... I find it Boring and uncomftorable.

Re: AT-5SPD Swap...tranny change.

just buy a 5 speed if u dont have the car yet. celicas are not that hard to find a 5th gen around. i want to swap mione and i am considering buying another and selling my auto. but i feel kinda attached to it. so i might find a junker and swap the tranny. it can be done and is not too hard. theres a good write up about it at toyotacelicaonline.com. but i would be patient and wait for a manual.

you can swap out the tranny but it gets bitchy, helped a friend before, you have to make sure you get all the parts, its time consuming and alot of the parts will be old and sometimes brittle

getting the cltuch pedal in there is kinda difficult
