94 Mecury Sable, I think it has a bad motor mount...
Hey guys, I have a 94 mercury sable 4 door with the 3.8l V6. I've noticed that when I'm at a stop and gas it the motor feels like it moves. So I know it is most likley a motor mount causing this. With the hood up and you shift it, the engine looks like it wants to jump out at you. I dunno which mount it is though as when I looked up the parts it gave me 2 mounts of 2 different types (solid or hydrolic)
So my question is how hard is it to change the motor mounts on this car? I'm pretty competent and such with cars but have never done a motor mount on this one. I couldn't find much information on this site so I figured I'd ask, someone has had to change it out. Any help would be greatly appricated! |

Re: 94 Mecury Sable, I think it has a bad motor mount...
I have a 93 3.8 and had the exact same problem with the
motor mounts. I paid a Goodyear mechanic to replace the motor mounts and he said it was so difficult he needs to charge more the next time. Apparently, it's very time consuming. Later on , my tranny failed and they had to relace the transmission mounts also! |

changing motor mount is very simple. First fin out which one is bad tell someone to be in the car switching gears and accelerating while holding brake down and you inspect to see the motor mounts for cracks etc. Then put a jack under the engine till it lifts up enough for you to be able to loosen the bolts on the mount and the replace itt and put the jack back down
