cost of swap

i was just wondering how much you think the total cost for a complete swap of a 350/th350 into a mid 80's s-10 would be??? and would it still have room under the hood for the wheels if it was dropped to where the tops of the wheels (40 series 18's) were about onlyabout 6 or 7 inches below hood(slammed)?

well, I know it is alot of custom, but I know someone who put a 283 bored to a 311 iu think in their s-15 jimmy, and I know a guy with a 350 iun a luv. PLus I helped a kid swap a 3.8 V6 into an old toyota mini.

(I have a project planned this summer. I am selling my mustang and my truck and using the money to build a little mazda or s-10 or somehting, I want to put a V8, auto, 18's, bags, custom interior wiht bucket seats and LOUD system, dark blue metallic paint with door handles shaved... I am making plans for it now and as long as i can find a high mileag or blown engine little truck Ill be ablre to afford it all since my grandpa will paint it wiht me for cheap and a friend does exhaust and framework and stuff and I can do the interior and the electronics of it.

I want to use these rims, what do you think of these?

All the rood you want........

Dude, you will have all the room you want.
If you can put a 4.3L V6 in a S-10 them you can easily,a small block is only 5'' longer and the same width.

You will need and good elec. fan but other than that you can use ever thing you have now(if you have a 4.3)but even if you need to buy some parts I bet 90% will be in stock at any parts store.

P.S. if you really want to be the man get a set of NASCAR goodies dash heads for the 4.3L and GMPP cam and intake how does a 400-450hp V6 sound?

Re: cost of swap

old school is much cheeper then new, a carberated swap should run less then 3k including a rebuilt moter, your mounts, and some custom exhaust work... ive got close to that much into my multiport fuel injected swap and i still need to do my exhaust (im a machanic, only work i am not doin myselfe is the exhaust, i dont have access to a bender) but with a first gen some people run into cooling problems and need a radiator from www.summitracing.com to cool them down, a 4.3l has the same tranny as a small block so you could reuse the tranny if you get the 4.3l and not the 2.8 or the 2.2, and you may need to cut the drive shaft upto an inch so you dont fubar the bushing
