1988 Firebird Trans Am GTA vs. 2000 Camaro Z28 LS1

I was planning on buying the Firebird until one someone told me that the Camaro would be better.

More to the point I was told the Camaro would be faster but I wanted to make sure whether or not it was true.

Re: 1988 Firebird Trans Am GTA vs. 2000 Camaro Z28 LS1

Well the links dont work, but the reason people are telling you the camaro is faster is because that is the newer model with the 5.7L LS1. your trans am is from 88, when they used the 5.0 305 engine.

A ws6 is faster than a camaro ss i've heard

Re: 1988 Firebird Trans Am GTA vs. 2000 Camaro Z28 LS1

I can't believe he changed the wheels on the GTA. Blasphemy.

The GTA can be a nicer car but the Camaro is going to be a lot faster. You're talking about 230hp vs 310 hp. Note I say the GTA "CAN" be a nicer car, but most 80's F-Bodies that are previously owned turn out to be complete junk. This Firebird looks decent in the pictures but I'd have to get a good close up inspection before considering it. If there is one thing the Firebird has going for it over the Camaro in my opinion is the looks both inside and out. The Camaro just looks so generic and pointy like an arrow head, and the interior is pretty boring and cheap looking.

Comparing an '88 T/A to a '00 Z28 is like... wow... no words.

Re: 1988 Firebird Trans Am GTA vs. 2000 Camaro Z28 LS1

For some reason the Trans Am tends to have a touch more bite. Not sure why...something with weight transfer of the body I would assume.

I still stick by my statement....ANY LS1 F-Body can beat another one any day. Kinda like Any Given Sunday....but without Pacino.

And football.

With F-Body's.

Oh it's true, it's true (Kurt Angle voice).

The WS6 has a functional ram air hood. Look at the design of it versus the Camaro SS's and you'll see what I mean. WS6's trap about 1.5 mph higher on the average. Pretty close race though all around.

Luos, you've been inhaling too much carburetor cleaner if you think that they run identical times.

~can I have a snuff?~

I'll probably get the 88' Firebird, are there any sites that sell aftermarket parts for the car?
