Weird
I am now working on this GSX and had it soaking in brake fluid overnight to soften the paint. All it did was take the stripes off. Didn't scratch the black. Then I tried sanding with 600, had to use every last bit of elbow grease to cut through the clear. Gave up after 10 minutes of little results. Any ideas on what I should do to strip the paint?

Re: Weird
not break cleaner. it takes to long and the fumes are really bad for you. Use Citrust strip or aircraft paint remover, if you are using aircraft paint remover use it in a well ventalated room. Acitone and MEK also work but are harmful.

I was using DOT 3 brake fluid. I don't want to get anything more harmful because I have to do it in a heated garage, and it has to go down the sink.

Re: Weird
go to hardware stores and ask them what would work to strip paint with out harmful vapors.. Citrus Strip works really well and smells like oranges.
