Question 92 buick makes a dinging sound and break light stays on

my 92 buick started making a dinging sound as if the door was ajar and the break light stays on mostly apon accelleration, tends to stop dinging and break light goes out apon slowing way down or applying breaks??? my emergency break is not stuck and all break lights on outside of car are in good shape, im so confused of what this could possibly be??someone, anyone please advise me in some sort of direction. thanks.

I would have someone check the brake fluid level and if good look for a wire making and breaking (loose connection ect.),possibly at the emergency brake switch for starters, good luck.

I agree with Auto tranie.. brake fluid level is probably low. If the fluid level is low that would mean that your pads are possibly getting to the point of needing replacement or you may have a leak somewhere in the system.

I had the same thing happen with my 95 Lesabre. I had the brake fluid checked and they said it was fine. But the car still kept dinging. They finally had to replace the brake fluid sensor and that solved the problem.
