87-93 dash?

old question but was never answered, was wondering if anyone swaped the dash form a 86 for a newer one from a 87-93? and if so did any of the brackets need to be changed or customized? im in need of a new dash and i have one in great shape from a 91 and wanted to install it..

Re: 87-93 dash?

what you could do is flip though a pair chiltons, one from each era. that way you could see if the assembly and dissasembly differ dramatically. i have no idea otherwise.

Re: 87-93 dash?

they give detaled walkthroughs of dissassembly and assembly, its just an idea and not a very good one - but you could see if they have similar support structures through the comparison. or you could go down to the pick'n'pull and check it out first hand. or you could take a chance that ford used the same pieces to attatch the supports to the car body in both generations and that although the interiors are vastly different it could be a result of different supports that have identical connections to the frame.

but these are all speculative.
