shortram intake/smog test
I need to get my car smogged "tested" to get my new stickers from the DMV. I got a shortram intake since then and was wondering will that effect my smog test and maybe cause it to fail??? Cause honestly I believe if i had my stock intake it would pass, but with the new shortram intake...will it make me fail the smog test? someone please let me know. And by the way nothing else is modified under the hood except for the shortram intake.

Re: shortram intake/smog test
No, it won't make you fail. I have a cold air intake and mine passed without any problem. I see you're in Cali, so I know things are a lot more strict, but I doubt every person with an aftermarket intake is putting the stock back on for smog testing. You should be fine.

Re: shortram intake/smog test
Like I said, I know Cali is a lot more strict, but it still wouldn't make you fail a smog test, the visual I didn't know about. If that's the case, how in the hell do you guys mod your cars out there?

Re: shortram intake/smog test
I just checked out a cali website for smog checks and it does say any visual mods to the engine components is an automatic fail. So although you were probably right 94PreludeJDM about my intake still passing the smog check itself, the visual would fail. I found out that all aftermarket parts need an EO number to qualify a smog test. damn learning new shit everyday and it sucks.

Also they say the SRI will affect NOx from the heat of the motor entering the intake. It will raise your level a couple of ppm's. Let me know the manu of the intake.. Smoghog |
