Cool And so ends an era...

Its dead. Like a nasty ex girlfriend, my baby has sent me a final slap...and sent my wheel flying 30ft down the road infront of me after a wild few seconds of careening my car into the opposing lane on a busy street and me skating across the pavement. God is good. Initially, almost nothing but the wheel well cover and the fender were damaged. But after three hours of trying to get it up, onto the flat bed, i'm nto sure what's gone. Aside from selling parts, this will be my last real post on this forum until i get another celica. I was going to get a supra or an celica convertable, but i'm lack the appropriate funds since i got my girl an MX-3 and the owner gave his conv to his daughter. Chances are i'm going to get an infiniti or a 240sx. Anyways, I wish you all the best. If you want parts, let me know, i have tons are pretty reasonable prices. Accept for the head light motors, almost everything is going for around $20-100, usually $50 and usually as a pair. By jan, the car gets junked, unless someone wants to buy it. It really only needs a new axle, which my friends can get for $50 and install for a total of $100. My little way of saying thank you for the months of help you guys have given me. Good bye, dear firends, and so long.

Re: And so ends an era...

GT. welll...my friend tells me my boot went out when i took the car over 100mph two weeks prior. I had to change my tire because of a flat and sometimes it made noise. I think its when, in seperate incidents, my gf and i ran the car into the curb hard enough to blow the tire (mine was at 15 and it slit the side wall, hers was at 40 and well..wow...). I started mysteriously losing lugnuts and studs. Took it to a mechanic friend of mine yesterday and he told me the boot was out. Drive it very gingerly to only places neccessary. This morning, i went to my girl's house, and i was down to two nuts and two studs. Work wasn't too far away and there was nothing i could do. So i left for work, being as ginger as possible. I mean, for the first time ever, i adhered to speedlimit laws (30-40). Well, i was passing a school on a slight turn and things got pretty violent. 5 seconds later, after some skilled reflex driving, i was on the side of the road. My girl is right, i am too crazy... Regardless, i thoughtt he whole ordeal was pretty awesome during and after, but, all fun aside, i need a new car now. All i can do is part my baby out cause though i can get it fixed upi for $100, it has its other problems, despite their cheapness, it was going to die anyways. Power steering leaked, it needed a tuneup, and the thing had a bald pulley on the serpentine belt, whcih ic an't find anywhere. Plus i can't paint the car until the hood is replaced, which, the winshield wiper hose is broken on. Whith the axle, it brings the repair total to about $300 with parts. Sure, i could pick up the $300 86 celica GT down the road...but why? I love the celicas...but unless is atleast a 90, whcih athe allows me to actually get PARTS without searching every junkyard on Long Island, or an 89 conv., which are nice looking, its not worth it unless its like $400-$500. Hell, i'm about to go look at a surpa turbo that, if i dont' sell some of my laptops, i can't get. Its the natural upgrade:-). Anyways, i'll send you some before and after pics. Very fun. Memorial service and everything. If you know anyone selling thier celi for cheap, let me know. But hey, i'll check back every so often. you know i'l miss being part of the club.

Re: And so ends an era...

For project, literally EVERYTHING. I haven't sold anything yet...but then again, look at my marketing campaign. The car itelf is very repairable ($100 should cover it, since i have an extra- the original- fender) and a few of my friends are interested in making it a racer.

To everyone else: tonight i bought a 1992 G20. Decent car, very clean outside, though the inside needs some work on the leather. Upscale move. Had to since my om's van literally gets like 6 mpg. I wanted to cry when the $5 i put in at 2.23 barely got me TO school. A Far cry from the miser celica. Anyways, i will start checking out the G20 forums. HOWEVER, since i am keping my celica...until its all parted out OR fixed...i think i will still be useful here. NIce. I'll post some before and after pics on friday. Just for the fun of it.

Oh, and i had my mechanic look at the car...he said the axle had nothign to do with the studs breaking off...they broke off when my gf rammed the curb...and then a month later i kinda did a similar thing (less speed, more oblique) which also broke the boot.

Re: And so ends an era...

For Project: You're out of luck on that. You just highlighted the only parts damaged in the entire car:-) when we put it n the trailer. I can't believe you hit every one of them. I feel to send you a prize or something, that's pretty funny.
