hello, guys,
my Gcherokee 3,1td has always make this "clonk" when shifting reverse. when i change from reverse to shifting forward the shifting is very much smoother. can this be tuned/fixed? is it normal? regards vitor galamba |

I have a 2000 GC Ltd that makes the same noise. When I asked the dealer, they said that it was a normal noise for a Grand Cherokee.

Next time you shift into reverse, firmly depress the shifter release button ALL the way in before moving the shifter.
I think you will find that helps. |

or could be a bad u-joint if it is a clunk.
