Check Gauges, Oil? -- bigger problem than I thought

Hey guys I was wondering what the problem is with my Blazer. I was driving down the road and when i look down the check guages light came on and oil pressure was super low. What do I have to do to fix this problem? thanks for all the responses. It is a '95 Blazer with 98,000 miles on it. Thanks again

first off, we might need more of an explanation than that. Do you have oil in the engine? Is it low? It is running roughly?

Yea...thanks for telling me to do that. I am at work, and went outside to check everything and there is no oil in the engine and oil has been sprayed from what it looks like to me, by the engine fan. But there is not oil in the engine, from the dipstick. Where would be a good place to start checking for things to determine the problem. Could I poor oil in the egine and see if it drips out and check it that way. I am not that experienced with cars, but I sure would llike to be and I am willing to do new things. I need to get a service manual, huh?

If it's by the fan, it might be that one of the oil cooler lines has busted, or is seriously leaking. NEVER run your engine without oil. NEVER!! you can seriously damage your engine. Anyways, if it's not an oil cooler line, try seeing if the oil filter is tightened up well. I'd start by doing that. YES do add oil to your engine ASAP. DO not run it till you have put in adequate oil. If need to, run the engine a minute or so to try to see if you can see where the oil is leaking. if you can't, then try it with the engine OFF. God knows you don't want hot oil covering your body, or your face, and trying to lean into the engine while it's running is not a good idea. Especially next to the fan or belt. . Good luck. And hey, at least you know why the light came on. NO OIL!

If yours has a remote oil filter the hose may have let go and has to be replaced at once if so. get some oil, put it in and watch for leaks. Look especially at the hoses (large ones) running to radiator from oil filter assy. Look underneath too. Can leak under truck as well, but, sounds like the hoses going to radiator to me. You are sure to get a lot of opinons on this, but do not drive the truck until you know what is going on.(and not after that if hose is busted). Better to replace 50-100 bucks worth of hoses and maybe leave the truck at work a day or so, than lose a 1500-2000 dollar engine.

Thanks a ton for the info guys. I think that I am going to get it home tonight, a buddy of mine will get it home for me (towing of course). I will buy the manual tomorrow to see the path of the oil and put some oil in it and start by the advice given thus far. I will start on it tomorrow and will give an update then. Thanks again for the responses, I appreciate it a lot. The more the better, at least for me.
