Winstar door switches

After all my hard work yesterday fixing the intake gasket, today I can't get the interior lights to shut off. It shows a door ajar but am have a terrible time trying to find the door switches. Hayes shows nothing of this so any help would be good.

We have this from time to time on our '99, usually the lights shut off after a few minutes. You can also turn them off by rotating the instrument lighting switch (to the left of the steering wheel) all the way down - it shuts those lights off and dims the instrument panel lights. When I have this problem it usually means I have to clean the sliding door contacts - the spring-loaded doo-hickies. I usually clean the tips off with some sandpaper and everything works again for a while. On our car, the driver's side sliding door seems to be the culprit.

j, i have had this prob, the door switches are inside the door thus makeing it hard to get to, i just sprayed all the door latches with wd40, worked good. i now do this from time to time to keep um greased. goodluck

I just took the panels off both doors and sprayed them down, it seemed not to help. Have you ever had to pull your out? Looks like a royal pain to get them out. The pins on the slider are kind of sloppy in lots of side play in them.

sorry j, i meant that all you have to spray is in the door latch where it latches to the van. when u open the door look on the inside of the door, there is a hole with the latch in it. thats where i sprayed mine. i didnt take the panels off. im not sure how else to explain it.

I pulled my locks out of my rear hatch. I cleaned them with brake cleaner to get all of the old lub off. Then I lubed them with a good tefflon based lube. So far the dome light hasn't come on. We'll see this winter when it gets cold. While you're in there you may as well lube your rear wipper motor. They like to freeze up on the output shaft. It's a bit tricky to get apart. It's put together with tabs which need to be bent back.
