Question Wondering why the new battery was dead on BMW 528i?

My 528i can not start and the dashlights were out when the ignition key was turned to the start position. I have jumped but wouldn't start.
It has actually been replaced by the new battery 3 weeks ago.
It seems to me this is not simply that the battery is dead.
Can anybody help me how to do?
Thanks,

CHECK THE CONTINUITY ON THE BATTERY CABLE , ALOT OF TIMES THEY BREAK ESPECIALLY IF THE CAR WAS IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE.
