Greetings,
I have a 99 Corolla of which I discovered during the last oil change that is it burning off oil. I do my own maintence on it and didn't know if anybody had any thoughts or ideas on what might be wrong because I'm at a loss. I know it's not leaking oil because there aren't any dark areas on the motor, and also, there is some black build up on the tail pipe which gave me the idea that it might be burning instead of leaking. I did the oil change about a month ago and it has already burned off about 3/4 quart which is a lot especially if it only holds 3-4 quarts. Let me know what you all think. It will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Mine as wall. Just keep a quart handy, and check the level once a month

Is there no solution to this problem? There has to be something wrong with the motor. I don't think it's plugs and wires or anything like that. I would amost guess that there's a gasket somewhere that has worn out.

Re: Burning Oil
i have herd that it is the valve guides on them wear fast and will let alot of oil in and it is believed to only be on newer 1's so i would check them before doing any major work or $ on the car

Re: Re: Burning Oil
hi,
you see this on the new 1ZZFE engines... some even have a piston knock when the engine is cold ( in cold climat) you wouldn't see this on 4AF - 4AG - 7AF engines...unless they had 200 000 miles on them. and even then, mine has that and no oil burning yet ![]() Deadring
