Re: removing power steering
take off the power steering. take the hoses off at the rack and pinion. turn the wheel to get all the power steering fluid out then cap it off at the rack and pinon

b/c i dont need it, it frees up a tiny bit of hp and it makes engine bay look a lot cleaner looking.

Power steering pumps only take 2-3 hp......loose 20lbs and it'll have the same effect

they know its a tiny bit of power but they said "look cleaner" and i agree it is worth it to look better but unless you have minimum i/h/e its not worth it

It's not bad driving a car without power steering. Many civic's that I've had didn't have it. Personally, my 94 ex does have it, and while I do like it, not having it isn't a problem. As for how it looks, I don't mind it sitting there, but to each his own.

I alternate between having my P/s hooked up and having it disconnected.
Yes you can feel a slight difference (even without removing it, I just pull the belt off) But I get tired of it reall quick and hook it back up. See My problem is my P/s pump leaks like a bastard when its hooked up and I can't afford a new one, so when I get tired of cleaning power steering fluid off my engine I disconnect it for about a month, but then I get tired of not having it and reconnect it, and the cycle begins again.. haha. Anyway I wouldn't bother getting rid of it as you never know if you may miss it. try running without the belt for a while to make sure you can live without it. Edit: sorry I'm a little buzzed and just realized that if you don't have a multi belt system this obviously will not work. If you have a serpentine belt system on your car, you will just have to remove it and get a shorter belt to run the rest of your accesories. as long as its new path doesn't interfere with anything.
