Best all-terrain tire? Size?

Looking for opinions on AT tires.

Most of my driving is city/highway but I jump off the road ofttimes into whatever looks interesting. So the tires have to be ready. Have to handle dry/wet/snow.

The orginal tire size was 225/75R15, the tires I have had on the vehicle are 235/75R15, a little taller and wider maybe for improved ride?

Tires I've had:
Firestone Wilderness AT - these wore pretty well actually (they weren't the ones from the recall)

Goodyear Wrangler AT - the ride was decent, but these seem to have worn quite quickly...

So what tires have you ridden on, what did you like, not like? (Looking at standard size replacements)

Liberator All-Terrain 235/75 15 (aka Uniroyal Liberator A/T)

I have had this tires on my 94 for almost 2 years and 20,000 miles, the front ones are pretty bad because my alignment was messed up. But I am going to purchase a new set, soon.

I myself like the BF Goodrich A/T... The 235/75/15 is a good size for your vehicle.. you can get about 50,000 out of a BF.. its a great all terrain and also comes stock on the H2 Hummers.

It sounds like the BFG A/Ts would be good for you. I got about 50k out of the set I had. Bridgestone Revos also come highly recommended.

Personally, i have a 94 grand cherokee 4.0L, just picked up a set of 31/ 10.5 R 15. they're Baja M/T (widetrack). probably a little aggressive for what you're looking for...but they fit, just had to cut a piece of the bumper off cause it rubbed a bit in reverse. i also have 2" spacers. i love the look though. very aggressive looking cause they have a little extra bite on the sidewalls. not sure about the mileage cause they're still new.

How do the BFG's handle snow?

I've heard good things about the Bridgestone Deuler Revos, they are pricey tho. Had a set of the Deuler ATs on another vehicle, they were allright, except in snow, then they were terrible...

What kind of snow do you get? The BFG A/Ts were all right in the deep snow and fair on ice. Not particularly good but they weren't bad. Not as much siping as the Revos. If I went back to an A/T I'd probably get them again. We don't get much ice here so they worked well for me. I hear some guys get them at Sam's Club/Walmart pretty cheap. As far as size goes, if your running stock suspension then the 235/75/15 is probably the way to go.

Tirerack.com has both the Revo AT and BFG AT for $105ea. They don't have a listing for the Liberator AT. May have to search around for a price on those. I'd assume them to be comparably(sp?) priced.

BFG A/T's have always been my favorite. When I was stock, I ran the 30x9.50 15's with zero issues and great results on ski trips over plenty of snow. And my winter tires now with 4in of lift are the same tire in 31x10.50 15's, as my Baja Claws suck in the snow. Discount tire sipes tires for you if you live where there is a lot of ice, but regular snow driving doesn't really require siping. And you can get 50k miles out of the BFG's as long as your alignment is in specs and you rotate them every other oil change.

well the liberator are a bit cheaper then the rest, around $60 each at Super WalMart. they only carry a 40k warranty, the BFG have a 50k warranty if I am correct.

cheap prices=cheap tires. the BFG's have the tri-gard sidewall that is almost indestructible, I have put them to the test.

Well you could say that, but we're not looking for an extreme off-road tire, remember they said mostly CITY/HIGHWAY driving but has to be compatible for the off-road as well, which these tires can deffinately handle.

The Tri-Gard Sidewall would be great for the extreme everyday offroad use, but not needed for everyday driving.

Not specifically rated AT, but noted to handle fine for general off-road...

You get what you pay for....BFG A/T's or Michelin LTX's are all I would use.
