I supose Napa in the US, but with paint you really do get what you pay for.

How about telling us what you want it for, and someone might have a better sugestion

Re: Pearl White or Metallic Silver

If your going to paint it yourself 1 gallon of primer, 2 quarts of paint and 2 quarts of clear.
And you won't be happy with the final results.

You shouldn't use the full gallon of primer but it's probably cheaper to buy the full thing since you could easily use 3 quarts.

If you switch colors you really should paint the door jams and under the hood to match.

I've painted a few cars, and I won't touch pearls. They are for the pros only.

A pro will only probably only use 1 quart of paint, and clear, but they know how to use a paint gun.

What I would recomend is do the body work yourself, and even the primer.
But let the pro's do what they do best.

Look at my web page, at my Topaz, (or even Blazer, or my coupe) and you'll get a small taste of what work is required.

Movin2stereo is the boards bodywork pro, but I'm sure that he'll pretty much agree with my advice.

Good Luck, and choose wisely

Re: Pearl White or Metallic Silver

possibly the instructor, but not the students

I don't know how much painting experience takes before someone becomes good enough to spray pearls, but I would hate to have my truck used as the test truck

Re: Pearl White or Metallic Silver

They can probably get the paint for less than you, and will probably share the savings

Re: Pearl White or Metallic Silver

I would almost look into the blues.

Stay away from the white. Silver does cover up imperfections.

But I think that it'll look best in a blue. You can go a few shades darker or lighter than the color that you have now without it looking bad.

Get a very high metal flake paint. and get the instructor to spray it.
Or go for a candy type finish. Candy paint jobs look incredibly deep if they're done right.

I just did a google search, and I found this site on E-bay
http://motors.search.ebay.com/auto-paint
and this color looks pretty nice to me

it's only $45.00 (I'm assuming for a galon)

Re: Pearl White or Metallic Silver

Ha,ha,ha....Vo-tech.I was once a Votecher.Your truck will be pratice for the students, keep that in mind. Some schools might be better than others.I know where I went, things didn't come out very nice. The cars left better than what they came in as,but that's not saying much.Keep in mind though these are students learning about everything(bodywork, painting, tools, etc.)As for the pearls or metallic, pearls aren't so bad.Pearls are in just about every color out there right now. It's the metallics that can bite ya.One of the worst is silver. What happens is that if it isn't applied evenly you get what we call blotches and that looks bad.You really can't see the blotches untill you clear, that sucks. If your looking for your truck to shine and/or be one color, send it to them.Just don't expect to get a A-1 job.I support my Vo-tech school by going to meetings and I actually grade the students on their tests at the end of their school year,so I can't bad mouth them or anybody esle for that fact.
