Heater only works on setting mumber 4

Hi,

The heater in my Primera has stopped working on settings 1, 2 and 3 but works on 4! This is great for warming the interior but forget about listening to music or talking to anyone as the noise is sooooo loud.

I have replaced the unit which does the switching with one from a scrappies and that had no effect.

Does anyone have any ideas why it only works on number 4?

Cheers

I've just replaced the blower motor resistor and hey presto, 4 fan speeds again.

The G20/Primera is NOTORIOUS for having the blower motor resistor go. Most of the time, once you replace the resistor, all the fan speeds work again. Hope that is it for you!

Guess what? The blower on my P10 Primera (UK) only works on 4...

I've just got a replacement switch from a scrappy (sorry, "Vehicle Recycling Centre". ) Cut my finger as well. Blood everywhere. ( )

And now I find it's a resistor? (

Anyway, where does the little critter hide?

I had that problem before. The resistor is underneath the dash on the passenger side, if you push the seat back and lye down in the footwell you can get to it.

Re: Heater only works on setting mumber 4

Wow... Just on friday 1,2,3 stopped working. Same day I went to nissan, and told them what my problem was. I knew that it was a resistor problem since the same thing happened on my girlfriend's malibu. I bought it, looked at it... and was wondering where the thing went.. today sunday.. came on this forum to look for "resistor" problems... found this thread... found the location of it. From the time I opened my door, to where I was completely done replacing it, I counted 38 seconds. Most of the seconds were just making sure that the seat was as far back as possible (which in fact wasnt really needed, but helps.) This leads me to believe that for some reason, it's this easy to replace because it will be something nissan can make money off of? Seems more like it could be like a routine thing. When I removed the old one it was a mexican replacement. It was green, VERY corroded, and said "made in mexico" all over it. Obviously this has been replaced before. I've had the car 1 year, and this is what I run into. Why is this something WE should have to pay for? This ran me $47 from nissan.

Ok... wow... I just checked my auto parts store online to see if these are available, and they are! for like $25. Something like this I would think is a dealer only part. AHHHHH fdkhfhkdjfhdskfjdshfskd...

Thank you neddy for your help!
