sliding door

i have 1997 transport now this is kind of a stupid question sorry!!!
where the door meets the van at the bottom of the door it looks like it has wiring or a control panel for automatic sliding doors. sorry if i"m wasting your time. is that what it is? and if so can I still make it work?

Thanks.

Re: sliding door

Are you talking about the metal contact plate (on the jamb) and the contact pins (on the door)? If so, those are used for passing the electrical current into the door for power locks and sensing if the door is being opened (if equipped with PSD). If you don't currently have the PSD feature, a lot more would need to be added. Things like the computer, wiring, motor, etc would have to be retrofitted. I'm not even sure if this is possible outside of a LOT of work.
