Distributor replacement

Need directions on proper way to replace distributor.

I know which one to get. I have it removed and indexed marked the engine for proper installation.

Do I need a new gasket and O-ring?

Do I need to grease/oil the gears before I install it?

You will need a new dist gasket (about 50 cents). You can use your finger to rub a little oil on the gear if it makes you feel better, it's really not necessary. Drop it back in on a smiliarly marked path as your old one.

Disconnect the ecm wire behind your passenger side carpet (tan wire) Start the truck, time it to 0 degrees TDC, then lock the distributor down. Time again to make sure all is good, then reconnect the wire you disconnected. Drive, be happy...
