Unhappy heater problems: I'm stuck

Hey I could really use some creative help with my 68 heater. Hears the scoop. I replaced heater box, core, and hoses to my 289. Blower works and all cables work. NO HEAT. I also replaced thermostat, and burped the radiator, still NO HEAT. I'm stuck. I really dont want to take apart the heater box again unless I have to. What am I missing?

Re: heater problems: I'm stuck

Check the two hoses going to the heater core and see if they are getting hot. Check to make sure all the vents are hooked up correctly and are not leaking air or blocked. Is the fan spinning in the correct direction? Is the air intake for the heater clear (check for obstructions, rodents are good about sneaking into such areas). Is the heater valve opening all the way?

heater problems

Thanks for the reply. Question: What would be the problem if both hoses were not equally hot, and where is the heater valve. I thought just the mechanisms that open by the cable controls were the only "moving" parts. Thanks again.

Re: heater problems: I'm stuck

no heater valve and both hoses going to the heater core are not hot is a symptom of a clogged or restricted heater core.
Did you flush the cooling system before replacing the heater?

did you inspect the Temperature Blend Door? the blend door can close off the heater core almost completely if the thermostat is is the full closed position. you wanna make sure to check that. from my experience, allbeit little, the blend door accounts for 55% of all heater problems. because of the year im assuming is cable controlled, so check that the cable is attatched and not binding inside its housing.
