Hey guys, as you can see I'm new to the forum and the car world. I turn 16 in March and with my permit I have nothing at home to drive, except dad's 96' Impala SS
. I believe I have narrowed it down to either a B13 or 14 SE-R or a similar year Integra LS/GS/RS. I know performance wise the two cars are very similar, but I need help finding more reliability and insurance answers being a new driver. Just an extra thought, in your opinions do you believe the b18 and sr20 have similar potential performance wise, after I have gained substantial experience of coarse. Thanks in advance, by the way I'm not trying to start wars between the Nissan geeks and the Honda boys, keep it clean . ![]() EDIT: I read another thread concerning the gs-r and the se-r, however I can't see this being a solid comparo, just to show you guys that I'm trying! the integra looks better, but the B13 SER is waaaaay faster, it weights 400 lbs lighter, has a limited slip differential, and has more tq. a B13 would run neck to neck with a B16a powered 00 civic Si, and that car is 12 years old!!
upgrade potential is just an engine swap away. the j-spec SR20's from a pulsar gti-r has 4 throttle bodies, and is boosted. the teg has potential to handle better casue it has double wishbone suspension front and rear while the B13 has struts front and rear. but it takes alot less power to make a B13 run faster then a 3rd gen teg casue its so much lighter, but the teg again like i said, looks waay better.

Re: SE-R vs. Integra LS
The Integra is a better platform overall, and the tuning community for it is ENDLESS, but the SE-R is less common, less likely to get stolen, most likely better on insurance, and faster out of the box. I'd personally go with the Integra. The chassis and suspension are better designed for good handling, and as much potential as the SE-R's engine has, the Integra's has twice as much actual support here in the States.

Re: SE-R vs. Integra LS
Id rather take the LS maybe im a little biased because I like hondas but just a lightly modded LS can catch up to a SE-R...

Re: SE-R vs. Integra LS
and a lightly modded se-r will be back on top. as many mods as there are for the honda b series, the SR20's aftermarket still isn't small. i'd take the se-r. i had a 200sx se-r and with only 140 hp i would run neck and neck my friends 99 si civic and a sentra is a couple hundred lbs lighter than a 200sx or ls integra. wasn't it carrrnutt who had the SE-R that was hanging with mustang 5.0's only with a timing advance?

yup, carnutt's se-r was hanging with lightly modded 5.0's. and was owning most hondas. his car was kinda of a freak though i think.

Re: SE-R vs. Integra LS
well my honest opinion is that i would go with the integrea it looks better and has a lot larger of an aftermarket due to it bein a b-series engine, the comparisons in power are similar but all u would have to do to the b18 is put a b16?b18c1 or c5 head on it then u have something serious ls/vtecs are really powerful all motors setups that give u good power throughout the rpms range. i just dropped a B18 block w/ a B16a2 head into a 91 civic hatch for drag racing and w/ that alone im turning consistent low 14's and can keep it somewhat close w/ my SRT-4
