Re: sunbird

Not much to do for Sunbirds...can swap over 2nd generation (1988-1994) Cavalier parts onto them with minimal hassle. I put a Cavalier front end and Z24 body kit on mine.

Before:

After:

Can swap in a V6....be it a 2.8, 3.1 or 3400...

Re: sunbird

I picked up the kit off a white 93 Z24 at a local junkyard, $120 for all of it!

It was pretty easy to install, but had to put on a new front end because I had the flip ups, so I had totally different fenders!

And with the Z24 kit, you will have nowhere to put your license plate, so you can either put a mounting plate on the bumper, or put in cavalier tails, which requires a new trunk lid and lower filler panels!

So, it requires a fair bit of work....I drove my car like that for a few weeks...a friend commented "It looks like you ran over a circus."

You know, normally I would make fun of some shit like that, but damn, you did a nice job. What Sunbirds came RWD and did you get one?

Re: sunbird

Thanks for the kind words

The only Sunbird that came rear wheel drive was in the mid 1970s, and the only thing it shares with the GM J-body Sunbird is name...J-bodies like the Cavalier and Sunbird/Sunfire are all front wheel drive.

Re: sunbird

Also, being that I wanted to keep somewhat true, I got rid of the Z24 on the side skirts...but I did end up sticking a 3rd gen Z24 badge on the trunk, and I have a V6 swap planned for the very near future...
