Tramission blows fluid from dip stick
I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee. About 3 weeks ago I changed the transmission filter because of slow shifting when pulling out. The filter and oil change fixed that problem. However, about a week or so later it started leaking oil from the top of the dip stick tube. I thought it might have too much fluid so I drained the pan and refilled the transmission again to the mfg. specs. This still did not fix the problem. Other than the oil coming from the top of the dip stick tube the Jeep runs fine. Anybody have any suggestions ??

Re: Tramission blows fluid from dip stick
Did you check the level on the dip stick?
The torque converter retains quite a bit of fluid when you drop the pan. If you added the "full" capacity of trans fluid, around 8 qts, you overfilled it. |

I also removed the filter from the end of the transmission breather. However I tried to blow back through the breather hose and I could not. Now, I don't know if I am supposed to be able to blow back through that hose or not. The strange thing is that the jeep runs and shifts great. |
