Debadging Help

What in your opinion is the best way of getting the grey "Dodge" & "4X4" decals off the tailgate of a 1999 Ram?

My updated page:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2174227

Working on installing my neon & bought some stainless steel fender trim but yet to install it due to possibly getting it painting beforehand. Gonna paint the dark gray bumber parts black & the lighter gray part another color, possibly a type of dark blue.

Re: Debadging Help

I removed all my lettering on a very hot day. I left the truck to sit in the sun for a few hours and then I put my fingernails to work. Stuff came off like a joke.

Those stainless fender arches can be bad for the truck. I had them on my red truck for almost a year, and when one of them got pushed in I took it off to hammer it out, and I was shocked to find how much road trash was sitting behind it. I took the other three off immediately. If I was ever going to put them on a truck again I think I would try putting silicone behind them or something to seal them off. I can see enough road salt and mud sitting up in there and rotting out the fenders. Just be careful.

Who made your flame grille inserts? They told me they didn't make them for these trucks.

Fender arches? The fender trim I just bought? The grille inserts are made by bully. Got em at pep boys for like $80. Today I saw it at Advance Auto Parts for like $65.

Re: Debadging Help

I'd put the shiny handles on there. You got the flame accents around the tailgate handle anyway. The ones I got were made by TFP.

Re: Debadging Help

Looks like u took that plastic "wavy" black thing off your tailgate as well. I might do that too, or just repaint it black.

Use a "magic eraser" might be able to get them at a local auto store.

Re: Debadging Help

Thanks for the help & replies. I just took those decals off. Just need something to remove whatever sticky stuff is left. Possibly Goo Gone.

Plain old Lighter Fluid worked great for me. I had to re-wax the area but it came clean with just a little rubbing. John M.
