engine heat shield?help please !!!

does anyone know if there is any sort of cover on 1995 j30 under the engine that covers oil pan?or the belts and pulleys if you look under the car.becouse i looked today and there is nothing covering engine below at all.i can see crank shaft belts pulleys pumps. and oil pan is dented is this normal? please help anyone
