Fastest way to remove the engine 1991 Metro

I have a 1991 Metro with the 3 cylinder engine and auto-transmission. I want to know exactly how to remove the engine. I have never removed an engine from a front wheel drive car before. I have much experience with rear drive motors.

I can see one engine mount in the front and one along the fire wall. What I really need to know is what do I remove to disengage the wheels from the engine/transmission.

My plan is to cut the car in half right down the middle just behind the front doors and attach a motorcycle to the back half. So I am not interested in the Metro engine/transmission at all. I have already removed all of the interior, dash, electrical stuff, etc.

When I get it out, if somebody is interested in it, they can contact me.

You can run down to your local library and photocopy the procedures out of the MOTOR manual, or a good autoparts house will have a Haynes maual for purchase.

on each side of the car, the axle goes through the middle of the hub. Take that huge nut off in the center of the hub. Then, pull the bolt holding the ball joint to the knuckle. Pop the ball joint out. The axle will now slide right out of the front hub. It'll take a but more force to take it out of the trans, but it'll pull right out of the trans. I would unplug all the electronics, remove all the hoses, strap a chain hoist to the engine and transmission, unbolt the front 2 mounts, and the rear mount, and lift it out. Shouldn't take more than a couple hours tops. Especially with the right tools. If the motor is any good, sell it on here or on ebay for about $250. There's always people wanting good metro motors.

once you take axles out you will have to disassemble them and put the hub back in and tighten it. if you don;t do that the bearing will be ruined when you move car around
