Angry aem intake problems

About two months ago i had an AEM V2 cold air intake installed on my 05 acura rsx. The car was running fine until about a month ago when the weather cooled down. Now when i initially accelerate the car hesitates. I took it to the dealership and they ran it on the computer and said 3 codes came back wrong on the intake. They want me to reinstall the stock intake bring it back and then they'll run it on the computer again. Seems stupid to me because I'm sure the stock intake is fine. It began only when the engine was cold but now has progressed to all the time. I need help with where do i go from here. Should I reinstall the stock intake?? Or should I take my car to a performance shop that deals with aftermarket intakes? Any help would be appreciated....obviously I dont know too much about cars. Thanks!

If the dealer is willing to help, I would probably take it there. I don't think your intake is the problem, but it would help to put the stock intake back on to rule that out.

It might also be that your computer is not correctly taking in the sensor inputs from your car. When the V2 was installed, did they put the temp sensor into the intake? On my SRI, it's a bit loose and I have to check it sometimes.

Another suggestion would be to take it back to the person that installed the V2.


Also is it a TypeS or base model? Just wondering.

Something sounds shady. Before you drop a bunch of money at the dealership, check the intake. Make sure the filter element is secure at the end of the tube. Make sure the intake is securely and tightly fitted to the TB (other end of the tube). Check to make sure the sensor is firmly installed and not hanging out like mmontO said. Also check to make sure the vaccum hose that runs out of the side of the intake is tightly clamped on both ends. Sometimes on cold mornings the temperature of the tube causes some tiny throttle and idle "blips" with my AEM SRI, but It goes away very quickly once the motor gets going.

If all else fails (ie connections are fine), before you take it to the dealer, disconnect your battery, go have a drink and get your Acura security code, then reconnect the battery to reset your computer. Start the car and enter the code into the radio. Take it for a quick spin. Does it still do what it's been doing?

I hate the dealer. I don't trust the dealer. Take it to a speed shop or an independent mechanic for opinions before you go to the dealer and get fleeced. There is no reason you should have to re-install the factory airbox unless they suspect something is wrong with your ecu...but they should know enough to check the above listed items BEFORE having to do that.

well my bf is the one who installed the v2...its a base model

Note steps d-f. If those are not attached properly like S777 said, then it might cause problems. Just pop the hood yourself and check those sensors/tubes going into the V2. If you have a set of instructions that came with the V2, then I would go with those. Just look at the steps that correspond to the connections like in the link above and if you don't see any problems, then it has to be something else.

Good luck. Let us know what the problem was if you find out.

Also, one thing I forgot to mention was that the intake should give you better results in the cold weather.
