Considering a Bravada

I am looking around for a new vehicle and one that I am considering is a 2000 or a 1999 Bravada. A friend of mines parents have one they bought new and the only thing they have ever done to it was put a new set of tires on and an alternator. What im looking for is what are some common problems with these vehicles around the 70k to 85k mile range. I have always had Fords and this would be the first gm product I have ever had. I have had Explorers and they have all been great but I cant find what I want, so im looking else where. I like the one I said sometin about earlier rides nice and all that good fun. my personal experience on GM products is that the real problems show up at about 120K. fuel pump, power steering pump, water pump, hoses, belts, etc... most repairs cost little if you can DIY. 85k is just a baby.

service the tranny as soon as you can to prevent problems there, and use a good grade off gas like chevron to help clean out the carbon buildup from the old folks style of driving. for real user opinions on different years go to carsurvey.org at:

Thanks, That is basically what I'm looking for im doing my research this go around I didnt on my last car and it cost me big time.

I have a 2000 Vada and love it. It has 88thou on it. Around 60,000 I replaced both front wheel bearings, seperentine belt. Runs great. The only thing GM didn't pay attention to is the Darn Moonroof, leaks even after being in the shop 3 times. 200mph tape took care of the leak.

As well as Eric's transmission fluid and filter change, change out the transfer case fluid too. This should help you avoid the transfer case binding issue.
Heck, you might as well do the coolant flush too...start with a clean page.
