B16A2 vs. B16B
Hey I've been trying to figure out the differences between the B16A2 here in the states and the B16B is japan. I know that the B16B has a higher horsepower and torque output, but is that because it has a different head or block or what?

Re: B16A2 vs. B16B
different crank, valvetrain, higher comp piston, rods, b18 block that sits 7mm taller than the b16, and camshaft.
as for bolting on wise. all b series heads and blocks are interchangable. some require a little modification. as for b16 to b16, they are all easily interchangable.

Re: B16A2 vs. B16B
the b16b head would definately net you some gains. like mentioned above, the b16b head is basically a regular b16 head with a port and polish, more aggressive cams, along with a better valvetrain. to really take advantage of the b16b head, you would need to up the compression on the regular b16 block. if you want to take advantage of the higher redline and revs, you would need to run a rechipped ecu (ex. hondata, uberdata, AEM, etc) or grab a ctr ecu.
as for "big".....................depends on what your definition of big is

Well in other words is the power gain worth the money. Where do you find just like the head because I've been looking around and all I ever can find is a complete B16B engine swap not just the head. Also whats involved with increasing the compression on the block?

Re: B16A2 vs. B16B
well, are you boosting or going na?
ive never seen any documented or actual results with it. i would assume the results are similar to a regular NA built b16 head with agggressive cams. you can find plenty of those with a search. as for boost, well, the money can spent elsewhere, but, it wouldnt hurt to have an updraded head. as for finding a b16b head being sold by itself. good luck.
